Boston GuitarFest’s Adult 5-day program is now the Boston GuitarFest Institute, a program that welcomes adult players ages 21 and up. From high-level professional players to aficionados, the festival offers a great experience for everyone. The Institute offers access to all GuitarFest concerts and expos. 


Participants receive:

  • 2 private guitar lessons with distinguished guest artists*
  • Masterclasses with Eliot Fisk, Leo Brouwer, and Joaquin Clerch (by audition only)
  • Guitar Ensembles, with a performance opportunity on Sunday, July 1
  • Seminars and workshops
  • A chance to perform in Open-Mic Nights
  • Visit to Boston’s Museum of Fine Arts
  • Access to all GuitarFest concerts
  • Access to the Luthiers Expo

* Lesson and masterclass placement based on preference, faculty availability, and audition videos.

Note: Starting June 2018, NEC's new Residence Hall will be available for all summer program participants ages 14 years and older to stay in!



Guitarists of all levels and backgrounds are welcome to apply! Admission is on a first-come, first served basis, but early registration is recommended. Registration includes all festival events, concerts, private lessons, and masterclasses during the days valid for the type of registration purchased. Groupings of small guitar ensembles will be based on experience or request. Click the buttons below to register.

For those who would like to be part of the festival as an observer, the Auditor program offers access to all Boston GuitarFest Institute events from June 27 - July 1.

Looking for a taste of the Institute program? The Weekend Auditor Pass gives access to all Festival events June 30 and July 1 only, including concerts, masterclasses, and more.

Registration & Housing Refund Policy:

  • Full refund (less $150 non-refundable deposit) if withdrawn more than 90 days before program begins
  • 75% refund (less $150 non-refundable deposit) if withdrawn 90-61 days before program begins
  • 50% refund (less $150 non-refundable deposit) if withdrawn 60-46 days before program begins
  • 25% refund (less $150 non-refundable deposit) if withdrawn 45-31 days before program begins
  • No refund if withdrawn 30 days of fewer before program begins
